Castello

L'antica struttura fortificata fu trasformata nei secoli in palazzo signorile e presenta oggi una facciata arricchita da bugnato e lesene.  Nel XII secolo il luogo appartenne ai marchesi di Monferrato per poi passare ai marchesi di Incisa fino al 1191; nel 1203 fece parte del feudo di Sezzadio con giurisdizione metà ai Monferrato e metà al Comune di Alessandria il quale, verso la fine del XIII secolo, divenne l'unico proprietario del territorio. Nel XIV secolo il luogo ritornò ai Monferrato che decisero diversi interventi sul castello e che infeudarono il complesso agli Adorno, poi ai Porro, agli Zoppi e ai Grillo. Ulteriori trasformazioni al castello vennero effettuate tra il Cinquecento e il Settecento. Attualmente il Castello è di proprietà della famiglia Avogadro.

The Castle: the ancient fortified structure was transformed over the centuries into a stately palace and now has a façade enriched with ashlar and pilasters. In the XII century the place belonged to the marquises of Monferrato and then to the marquises of Incisa until 1191; in 1203 it was part of the feud of Sezzadio with jurisdiction half to the Monferratos and half to the Municipality of Alessandria which, towards the end of the XIII century, became the sole owner of the territory. In the fourteenth century the place returned to the Monferratos who decided various interventions on the castle and that enfeoffed the whole to the Adornos, then to the Porros, Zoppis and Grillos. Further changes to the castle were carried out between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. At present, the castle is owned by the Avogadro family.
